Description
This visualization displays a 3D cross-section of a 4D Quaternion Julia Set. [9] Quaternions are a number system that extend complex numbers into four dimensions (1 real and 3 imaginary parts).
The fractal is generated by repeatedly applying the formula q' = q² + c to every point in a 4D space and observing whether the point escapes to infinity. [1] We visualize a 3D "slice" of this 4D space by keeping the fourth dimension constant.
The 3D shape is calculated as a grid of voxels and then rendered using a ray tracing algorithm to simulate lighting and depth. [3]
